Karen Hernandez (She/Her)
Director of Administration
Karen is a native of Southwest Detroit. Growing up in the community, she attended Western International High School and Michigan State University. Her passion for the arts started at a young age when she began drawing & painting and was involved with a baile folklórico group at Ste. Anne de Detroit Catholic church. Karen’s current role is the Assistant Director of Administration, but began her career with Living Arts when she started working as the Program Assistant in the Out of School Arts program, supporting all youth and family programming. She has a passion for the arts as she has experienced first hand the creativity, beauty and maturity it has brought out in her own children. Before coming to Living Arts, Karen worked in the Early Childhood field through Southwest Counseling Solutions as a Family Support Worker.
Q: What is the most memorable or most impactful art experience you've had as an adult?
A: Most memorable and impactful art experience I've had as an adult was to witness Xcaret México Espectacular show that expresses México's rich culture and beauty, featuring 300 artists on stage and 500 years of history.
